THE LAST CUIVA: ANCIENT HUNTERS OF COLUMBIA

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a poignant glimpse into the dwindling world of the Cuiva people, an indigenous group whose ancestral lands in Colombia have been drastically reduced. With only around 600 individuals remaining in Colombia and a few hundred more in Venezuela, their nomadic hunting lifestyle is under immense pressure, confined now to a narrow strip of territory. The film serves as a vital record of a culture on the brink, highlighting the profound challenges faced by indigenous communities striving to maintain their traditions and connection to the land in the face of encroaching modernity. It is a compelling call to witness and understand the urgent realities of cultural preservation.
