THE JESUS KILLER: THE HAUNTING TALE OF JIMMY MAKETTA

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the chilling case of Jimmy Maketta, a figure who cast a long shadow over a Cape Town farming community in 2005. The narrative recounts a harrowing period of terror, detailing Maketta's alleged crimes, which included the murder of husbands and assaults on wives. The film explores the prolonged nature of his violence, which spanned over a year and resulted in accusations of over 16 deaths and 19 assaults. It serves as a stark reminder of the darkness that can lurk beneath the surface of ordinary life, raising questions about the psychological underpinnings of such brutality and the impact on a community left to grapple with profound trauma. The recounting of events aims to shed light on a disturbing chapter of recent criminal history.
