THE HOUSE OF LIPPE | GERMAN NOBILITY AND ARISTOCRACY

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a captivating glimpse into the storied legacy of the House of Lippe, a noble dynasty whose influence stretches back centuries. Narrated with evident passion by Julia Melchior, the film guides viewers through the opulent Detmold Residence Castle, still a proud ancestral home. Hereditary Prince Stephan Lippe and Prince Armin Lippe share intimate details of their family's over 800-year history, recounting tales of their ancestors' involvement in pivotal historical moments and their enduring connection to the Lippe Rose, a symbol now emblazoned on the state flag of North Rhine-Westphalia. The exploration extends beyond the castle walls to the Teutoburg Forest, where the reconstructed Falkenburg offers a tangible link to the family's medieval origins. The archaeological discoveries unearthed at this ancestral seat provide a fascinating counterpoint to the regal splendor of the residence. It is a rich tapestry of history, heritage, and personal connection, beautifully presented.
