THE GREAT PLAGUE | ABSOLUTE HISTORY

Cinemavixion Review

The Great Plague, as depicted in this Absolute History documentary, offers a stark and moving examination of London's devastating encounter with disease in 1666. Moving beyond mere statistics, the narrative humanizes the tragedy by focusing on individual stories, such as the poignant tale of the Poole family and their unimaginable loss. This approach effectively underscores the profound human cost of the epidemic, which claimed an estimated 100,000 lives and a quarter of the city's population. The documentary skillfully blends historical context with personal narratives, providing viewers with a somber yet essential understanding of one of history's most impactful public health crises.
