THE FORGOTTEN VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA

Cinemavixion Review

Hurricane Katrina's devastation of the Gulf Coast in August 2005 serves as the harrowing backdrop for this powerful documentary. The film unflinchingly chronicles the terrifying ordeal of those caught in the path of the category 5 storm, detailing the destructive winds, the relentless storm surges, and the catastrophic failure of the levees that plunged 80% of New Orleans into water. It vividly portrays the desperate struggle for survival as thousands were stranded, awaiting rescue. Beyond the immediate natural disaster, the documentary scrutinizes the government's belated and insufficient response, the ensuing chaos within the Superdome, and the political failures that exacerbated the crisis. Through the voices of survivors who endured immense loss and families torn apart, the film illuminates the enduring legacy of the storm and the resilience of the New Orleans community in the face of unimaginable adversity.
