THE FORGOTTEN SOVIET ATTACK ON IMPERIAL JAPAN

Cinemavixion Review

While the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are etched into the collective memory of World War II's conclusion, this documentary compellingly sheds light on a critical, yet often overlooked, Soviet offensive. The campaign in Manchuria, launched in the waning days of the war, delivered a significant blow to the Japanese empire that history has largely sidelined. This film meticulously details the strategic maneuvers and the swift, decisive nature of the Soviet advance, arguing that it was as instrumental as the atomic bombs in forcing Japan's surrender. It serves as a vital corrective, urging viewers to reconsider the complex tapestry of events that led to the end of the conflict and the dawn of a new global order.
