THE FORGOTTEN KINGS OF THE BALKANS

Cinemavixion Review

This historical documentary, "The Forgotten Kings of the Balkans," offers a compelling look at the resurgence of royal families in the Balkans following the fall of the Iron Curtain. The film delves into the lives of exiled monarchs and their descendants, including Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha of Bulgaria, Nicholas of Montenegro, Michael I of Romania, and Crown Princess Margareta of Romania. Through a blend of rare archival footage and intimate interviews, the documentary chronicles their journeys through revolutions, exile, and political upheaval. It explores how these figures, once banished by communist regimes, have navigated their return to public life and continue to serve as enduring symbols of national identity and historical legacy in Bulgaria, Romania, and Montenegro. "The Forgotten Kings of the Balkans" provides a unique and insightful perspective on the complex interplay between history, royalty, and modern identity in the region.
