THE FORGOTTEN BOMBING: THE TRUTH ABOUT DARWIN

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the harrowing, yet largely overlooked, events of the bombing of Darwin in February 1942. It posits that the attack, which rivaled Pearl Harbor in its ferocity and civilian casualties, has been systematically concealed from public knowledge for decades. The film asserts that Australia, reeling from the fall of Singapore and facing the specter of invasion, was woefully unprepared. When the Japanese forces, fresh from their assault on Pearl Harbor, turned their attention to Darwin, they unleashed a devastating barrage, killing more civilians than in the infamous American attack. The documentary promises to unearth the truth behind this military failure and the alleged subsequent cover-up, utilizing a compelling mix of previously unseen archival footage, dramatic re-enactments, and firsthand accounts from survivors. It aims to shed light on the chaos, the courage, and the desertions that defined this critical moment in Australian history.
