THE FIRST PEOPLE TO CONQUER THE ALPS' DEADLIEST MOUNTAIN

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges viewers into the treacherous world of alpinism, focusing on the formidable Eiger Nordwand, a peak that claimed the lives of many ambitious climbers. The narrative skillfully builds tension around the 'Last Great Problem,' highlighting the allure and peril of this Swiss mountain. It captures the raw human drama of those who dared to challenge its unforgiving icy slopes and violent storms. The 1938 ascent by an Austro-German team is presented with a historical edge, hinting at the geopolitical undertones of the era. While the film delves into the physical and psychological toll of such expeditions, it leaves one contemplating the enduring human drive to conquer the unconquerable, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
