THE FIRST CRUSH

Cinemavixion Review

"The First Crush" delves into the tumultuous landscape of early adolescence with a raw and unflinching gaze. The narrative centers on Bird, a twelve-year-old navigating the disorienting threshold between childhood and the burgeoning complexities of growing up. As puberty casts its inevitable shadow, her world is further destabilized by the sudden disappearance of her mother, a figure apparently as unpredictable as the changes Bird herself is undergoing. This confluence of personal upheaval and familial absence forces a confrontation with the bittersweet realities of maturation. The film promises a poignant exploration of loss—not just of a parent, but of innocence, of a familiar home, and of the cherished illusions that shield us from the harshness of reality. It is a story poised to resonate with anyone who remembers the profound, often painful, process of shedding one's youth.
