THE FASCINATING WORLD OF DOLL OBSESSION

Cinemavixion Review

Maureen Judge's "The Fascinating World of Doll Obsession" offers a disarmingly candid and often humorous exploration into the vibrant, niche subculture of doll collecting. The documentary delves into the lives of several individuals whose passions have shaped their realities, from a young mother finding solace in her fashion dolls' melancholic expressions to a man whose lifelong fascination with Barbie provides him with an unadulterated joy. We also meet an animator who blurs the lines between art and adult entertainment through his doll creations, and a collector who elevates his love dolls to the status of artistic muses. Judge masterfully navigates these diverse perspectives, revealing the complex psychological underpinnings and profound emotional connections that drive these unique obsessions. It's a surprisingly engaging and thought-provoking look at how these inanimate figures can become mirrors to our deepest feelings and desires.
