THE FAKE ANCIENT HISTORY OF MICHIGAN | MICHIGAN RELICS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the fascinating, albeit ultimately fraudulent, saga of the Michigan Relics. Emerging in the late 19th century, these purported artifacts claimed to reveal a sophisticated Near Eastern civilization inhabiting North America long before European contact, evidenced by inscriptions in diverse ancient scripts. The film meticulously unpacks how this elaborate hoax, one of the most extensive in American pseudoarchaeology, captivated the public imagination. It serves as a compelling case study on historical credulity and the enduring allure of uncovering hidden pasts, even when those discoveries are ultimately fabrications. A thought-provoking exploration of belief, deception, and the construction of historical narratives.
