THE FABULOUS DORSEYS

Cinemavixion Review

Alfred E. Green's "The Fabulous Dorseys" (1947) offers a nostalgic journey into the lives of the iconic Dorsey brothers, Tommy and Jimmy. The film adeptly chronicles their boyhood aspirations in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, their ascent to musical stardom, a period of professional divergence, and their eventual personal reconciliation. Portraying themselves, the brothers bring an authentic charm to the narrative, weaving their exceptional musical talents throughout the story. While perhaps not a deep dive into the complexities of sibling rivalry, the biopic serves as a delightful showcase for their signature sound and a fond look back at a significant era in American music. Its blend of biography and musical performance makes it a pleasant watch for fans of the era and the legendary musicians.
