THE ELIMINATOR

Cinemavixion Review

Ken Barbet's 2004 action thriller, 'The Eliminator,' plunges viewers into a brutal game of survival where former LAPD officer Dakota Varley (UFC champion Bas Rutten) finds himself a contestant in a deadly hunt. Initially seeking prize money from a boat race, Varley is thrust into a high-stakes survival game on an island, hunted by armed adversaries and fellow contestants. The film, also featuring Michael Rooker as the antagonist Dawson, pits Varley against a diverse group of individuals, each with their own clandestine backgrounds, including a DEA agent and a military instructor. With a runtime of 90 minutes, 'The Eliminator' promises a tense, action-packed narrative, though its IMDb rating suggests a mixed reception. Despite the lack of major awards, the film offers a gritty exploration of survival instincts and the darker aspects of human nature, driven by its core premise of a life-or-death competition.
