THE EAGLES: DESPERADO

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating deep dive into The Eagles' seminal 1973 album, 'Desperado.' Set against the backdrop of 1970s Los Angeles, the film explores the country-rock masterpiece that not only birthed the band's signature sound but also heralded their arrival as a significant force in music. Narrated by the esteemed Bob Harris, the re-appraisal delves into the album's Old West themes, vividly captured by the iconic outlaw gang imagery on its cover – a unique visual for the band's discography. Recorded at Island Studios in London under the production of Glyn Johns, 'Desperado' is now recognized as a cornerstone of country rock. The film highlights its lasting influence, as noted by music writer John Einarson, who posits that the album laid the groundwork for future soft country rock and even the foundations of 'new country' in both sound and style. A must-watch for fans and aficionados of classic rock.
