THE DONNER PARTY

Cinemavixion Review

Terrence Martin's "The Donner Party" plunges viewers into the harrowing true story of survival against impossible odds. Set against the backdrop of westward expansion in the 1840s, the film chronicles the ill-fated journey of settlers who become trapped by a brutal Sierra Nevada winter. Martin masterfully captures the desperation and resilience of the human spirit as the party faces starvation, internal conflict, and the gnawing cold. The performances, particularly from Crispin Glover and Clayne Crawford, convey the immense psychological and physical toll of their ordeal. While the narrative is inherently grim, it serves as a stark reminder of the sacrifices made during that era and the enduring power of the will to survive. This is a somber, yet compelling, cinematic account of a pivotal moment in American history.
