THE DOGMATICS: A DOGUMENTARY

Cinemavixion Review

“The Dogmatics: A Dogumentary” offers a raw and unfiltered look into the lives of a Boston-based band whose legacy is as compelling as it is tragically underappreciated. Directed by Rudy Childs, this documentary delves into the story of The Dogmatics, a quartet whose unpretentious approach to music—characterized by a blend of self-deprecation and youthful exuberance—helped define a unique corner of the genre. While not driven by commercial aspirations, their rewards were found in the camaraderie, the pursuit of fleeting moments, and the shared experience of creating music, even if completion was a challenge. The film unearths the narrative of a band whose potential was cut short, leaving behind a catalog of kick-ass music and a story that resonates with the authentic spirit of rock and roll. It's a poignant exploration of ambition, friendship, and the enduring power of music, even in the face of obscurity and personal tragedy.
