THE DEVIL AND LEROY BASSET

Cinemavixion Review

Robert E. Pearson's 1973 Western, 'The Devil and Leroy Basset,' plunges viewers into a gritty tale of vengeance and pursuit. The narrative centers on Sheriff Ben Trask's relentless chase of Keema Greywolf, a fugitive whose anger over a crash ignites a deadly conflict. Following Keema's escape and subsequent capture, the Basset brothers intervene, leading to a tense standoff and a desperate flight from justice. As Keema and the Bassetts commandeer a camper from the Zornes family, they find themselves cornered by Trask's posse. The film, featuring performances by Cody Bearpaw, John F. Goff, and George 'Buck' Flower, explores themes of retribution and the consequences of impulsive violence against a rugged Western backdrop. It's a compelling, albeit bleak, exploration of frontier justice and the lengths to which men will go when driven by revenge.
