THE DECOY

Cinemavixion Review

Justin Kreinbrink's 2006 Western, 'The Decoy,' presents a grim narrative centered on duty, loyalty, and the brutal pursuit of truth. The film follows a deputy tasked with escorting his childhood friend to execution for a heinous crime. As the journey unfolds, the deputy uncovers a conspiracy far more dangerous than he could have imagined, forcing him to confront the murkiness of justice and personal vengeance. While the film may not boast major accolades, its strength lies in its character-driven tension and exploration of moral ambiguity in a harsh landscape. Kreinbrink, who also stars, delivers a performance that anchors the film's emotional core, supported by a cast that effectively conveys the weight of their characters' predicaments. 'The Decoy' offers a compelling, albeit somber, look at the consequences of buried secrets and the difficult choices that define us.
