THE DEAD RISE

Cinemavixion Review

Péter Engert's 'The Dead Rise' plunges viewers into a grim post-apocalyptic landscape, where the remnants of humanity grapple with more than just the irradiated world around them. Set in rural Texas, the film centers on a group of survivors confined to a single house, their shared space becoming a crucible for intense psychological drama. As they battle the insidious effects of radiation poisoning and the gnawing grief of loss, they must also contend with the unsettling presence of the local inhabitants. The narrative skillfully explores themes of isolation, desperation, and the primal instinct to survive against overwhelming odds. With strong performances, particularly from C.J. Thomason, Monica Keena, and Edward Furlong, the film offers a compelling, albeit bleak, examination of human resilience in the face of utter devastation.
