THE DARK STRANGER

Cinemavixion Review

Chris Trebilcock's "The Dark Stranger" plunges viewers into a visually arresting psychological thriller. Anchored by a compelling performance from Katie Findlay as a young artist besieged by inner demons manifested from her own graphic novel, the film masterfully blurs the lines between reality and delusion. Findlay's portrayal of escalating paranoia and creative torment is deeply affecting. The narrative, penned by Trebilcock himself, intricately weaves elements of horror and drama, creating an atmosphere of pervasive dread. While the film's reception, including a 20% score on Rotten Tomatoes, suggests a divisive experience, its ambitious exploration of mental health and artistic expression, coupled with a strong directorial vision, makes it a noteworthy, albeit unsettling, cinematic endeavor. The supporting cast, including Alex Ozerov-Meyer and Enrico Colantoni, provide solid anchors to Findlay's increasingly fragmented reality.
