THE DARK SIDE OF THE SPACE RACE | OPERATION PAPERCLIP: THE SECRET RECRUITMENT

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the clandestine 'Operation Paperclip,' a post-World War II initiative that saw the United States recruit over 1,600 German scientists and engineers, many of whom were former Nazi Party members. Their expertise was instrumental in advancing American technological capabilities, particularly in the realms of the space race, weaponry, and the establishment of NASA. The film critically examines the ethical implications of this operation, highlighting the contributions of figures like rocket pioneer Wernher von Braun and the subsequent impact on the Cold War arms race. It aims to reveal the complex and often morally ambiguous story of how this mission reshaped scientific progress and the global landscape.
