THE DANCER DIARIES

Cinemavixion Review

"The Dancer Diaries" plunges into the often-overlooked world of Portland's burlesque scene, offering a gritty and realistic portrayal that fans of "Showgirls" and "The Florida Project" might appreciate. Directed by Andy Norris, this 2019 drama, based on a book and introduced by burlesque legend Tempest Storm, delves into the personal struggles, dreams, and triumphs of its characters. The narrative centers on a stripper pursued by a stalker, a plot that shifts from victimhood to an empowered pursuit of justice. While the film has garnered a modest IMDb rating, its strength lies in its unflinching look at the lives behind the performance, promising a compelling, albeit dark, cinematic experience.
