THE 'CELEBRITY' QUEEN OF ANCIENT EGYPT: WHY TIYE STILL FASCINATES US
Cinemavixion Review
This documentary delves into the compelling life of Queen Tiye, a formidable figure who wielded significant influence in Ancient Egypt over three millennia ago. Her ascension to the role of "great royal wife" to Pharaoh Amenhotep III marked an unprecedented era, positioning her as a supreme queen second only to the pharaoh. The narrative highlights Tiye's active role in political decision-making, famously depicted as a sphinx crushing enemies, and her keen awareness of public perception, even commissioning a dedicated sculptor. The exploration of how she cultivated this enduring legacy and inspired awe among her people offers a fascinating glimpse into the dynamics of power and image construction in the ancient world. It poses intriguing questions about the strategies employed by influential women in historical contexts.
