THE BUG: LIFE AND TIMES OF THE PEOPLE'S CAR

Cinemavixion Review

Damon Ristau's documentary, 'The Bug: Life and Times of the People's Car,' delves into the fascinating journey of the iconic Volkswagen Beetle. More than just a vehicle, the Bug represents a cultural phenomenon, evolving from its controversial origins in pre-WWII Germany to becoming a symbol of freedom and counter-culture, particularly during the 1960s. The film masterfully weaves together the car's historical trajectory with the profound personal narratives of its owners, illustrating the deep emotional bonds that have formed around this distinctive automobile across generations. It’s a compelling exploration of how a simple design became a global ambassador for a certain way of life, capturing the hearts and minds of millions worldwide.
