While billed under the more whimsical "The Boys From Brooklyn," this film's true identity might be better recognized as "Bela Lugosi Meets A Brooklyn Gorilla." It's a curious cinematic concoction that grafts a pair of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis impersonators, Duke Mitchell and Sammy Petrillo, onto a B-movie horror premise. Stranded on the exotic locale of Cola-Cola island, our hapless Brooklyn duo encounters a mad scientist, brought to life by the iconic Bela Lugosi, who is engaged in sinister experiments. The film promises "hair-raising experiments" and delivers a unique blend of unintentional comedy and low-budget horror, further enlivened by the presence of Ray 'Crash' Corrigan in the gorilla suit. It’s an oddity that certainly stiffens the audience, though perhaps more with laughter than fright.
