THE BLOODY REBELLION TO OVERTHROW THE STUART DYNASTY | WALKING THROUGH HISTORY | ABSOLUTE HISTORY

Cinemavixion Review

Tony Robinson guides us through a tumultuous period in English history with the 1685 Monmouth Rebellion. This documentary vividly reconstructs the Duke of Monmouth's audacious, albeit short-lived, attempt to seize the British throne from the newly crowned James II. Set against the backdrop of post-Restoration England, the narrative focuses on the dramatic events culminating in the last pitched battle ever fought on English soil. Robinson’s engaging presentation brings to life the political machinations and the raw courage of those involved in this significant, often overlooked, chapter of British history. It’s a compelling exploration of ambition, power, and the enduring spirit of rebellion.
