Lyuba, a hardworking farm girl with aspirations of agricultural study in Moscow, finds herself ensnared in a complex web of obligation and burgeoning romance. Raised by her Aunt Ira, Lyuba's dreams of true love are complicated by the attentions of the wealthy Lenya Kurkulev, whose father holds a debt over Ira, potentially making Lyuba the collateral. In the bustling city, Lyuba encounters Pavel, a compelling figure who presents himself as a decorated soldier. Despite an immediate, deep affection, Lyuba senses an unspoken history, a hidden truth behind Pavel's stoic demeanor and the striking scar that marks his face. This narrative promises a compelling exploration of love, duty, and the secrets that lie beneath the surface of seemingly idyllic lives.
