THE BERLIN AIRLIFT: HOW THE RAF AIDED WEST BERLIN

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary sheds light on a critical, often overlooked chapter of post-war history: the Berlin Airlift. Focusing on the vital role of the Royal Air Force, it details the extraordinary logistical feat of supplying West Berliners during the Soviet blockade of 1948-49. The narrative highlights the relentless, round-the-clock operations, even venturing into innovative solutions like using Sunderland flying boats on Lake Havel. The mention of Chinook helicopters in the 1960s adds a layer, suggesting a broader look at the RAF's enduring presence and evolving capabilities in supporting Berlin. It's a compelling look at humanitarian aid delivered through sheer determination and air power.
