THE BEEHIVE

Cinemavixion Review

Robbie Moffat's "The Beehive" offers a charming, character-driven glimpse into rural life in Somerset circa 1915. The narrative centers on Barry Drone, a peat-cutter whose earnest, if somewhat clumsy, attempts to woo the widowed Betty Queen, landlady of The Beehive Inn, form the heart of the story. Barry's slightly misguided plan to stage a fake burglary, allowing him to play the hero, adds a touch of gentle comedy to the proceedings. With a cast including Erin Geraghty, Ed Ward, and Suzanne Kendall, the film appears to lean into the quiet dramas and social dynamics of its period setting, promising a thoughtful exploration of love and longing in a bygone era.
