THE BATTALION - RESCUE IN THE SNOW: PINNED DRIVER, BURNING TOILET & FAREWELL TO A CHIEF

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a raw and real look at the lives of firefighters balancing personal milestones and unpredictable emergencies—all in a single 24-hour window. The shift begins with a high-stakes emergency: a driver pinned behind the wheel after a serious crash. The crew moves fast to extricate the patient and transfer them safely to a backboard. But once inside the Medic Unit, a new twist emerges—a discrepancy in the patient’s ID raises serious questions. The next morning brings an unusual and smoky call: a porta-potty fire in a city park—reminding us that no call is too small for these frontline responders. Meanwhile, it’s snowing in Columbus, and Battalion Chief Devine begins what might be one of his final shifts before retirement. During the morning briefing, the weight of his departure is felt by the entire team. As the station reflects on his leadership and legacy, a call comes in: structure fire. Without hesitation, the crew leaps into action, showing that the job never stops—even as generations shift.
