THE BANISHED (CALIBAN)

Cinemavixion Review

In 'The Banished (Caliban)', director [Director Name Not Available] crafts a chilling narrative that unfolds in the autumn of 1992. The film follows Jane Darcy, portrayed by Kate Benson, as she journeys to Greenvale, New York, to retrieve her late mother's belongings. Her arrival unearths a disturbing connection between her mother, Emma Grey, and the enigmatic Christopher Dodd, played by Tigre Haller. Dodd's unsettling actions and the protective stance of Sheriff Miranda Lacey, brought to life by Fiona Horsey, hint at a dark secret rooted in a past transgression involving Jane's grandmother. The film masterfully builds suspense, culminating in a visually striking scene where Dodd's ritualistic burning of Emma's possessions reveals the depths of a long-buried evil. The performances, particularly Benson's portrayal of Jane's dawning realization, anchor the film's unsettling atmosphere and explore themes of inherited guilt and hidden family histories.
