THE BABYSITTER

Cinemavixion Review

This 2021 release, "The Babysitter," delves into the unsettling territory of inherited trauma and the subconscious. The narrative follows a young woman whose return home to care for her ailing grandmother triggers a descent into sleepwalking and spectral visitations. This descent is not merely a plot device but a potent metaphor for confronting buried family secrets. The film masterfully blends psychological horror with a sense of creeping dread, suggesting that the most terrifying specters are often those we carry within. The ambiguity surrounding the protagonist's experiences invites viewers to question the nature of reality and memory, making for a thought-provoking and atmospheric viewing experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
