THE ASSISTANT

Cinemavixion Review

While the title "The Assistant" might suggest a straightforward narrative, this film delves into a far more complex and insidious territory. It masterfully portrays the daily grind of a young woman navigating the demanding world of a powerful entertainment mogul. The film's strength lies in its quiet observation, meticulously detailing the seemingly mundane tasks that mask a pervasive culture of abuse and exploitation. Julia Garner delivers a compelling performance, embodying the subtle yet profound emotional toll of her character's experiences. The film doesn't rely on grand pronouncements but rather on the cumulative weight of small indignities, inviting the audience to recognize and confront the systemic issues at play. It's a thought-provoking piece that lingers long after the credits roll.
