THE 6TH FRIEND

Cinemavixion Review

Letia Clouston's 2016 slasher, "The 6th Friend," offers a familiar premise with a twist, exploring the lingering trauma of a disastrous college graduation party. Five years after the horrific event, a group of best friends reunites, only to find themselves targeted by an unknown assailant. The film, starring Jamie Bernadette, Chantelle Albers, and Dominique Swain, delves into themes of friendship, guilt, and survival. While the initial setup at the party, involving a psychedelic drug and a disoriented night of violence, sets a grim tone, the subsequent reunion five years later attempts to rekindle the bonds of friendship amidst escalating terror. "The 6th Friend" garnered a mixed reception, with a 33% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.3/10 on IMDb, suggesting a divisive viewing experience. Despite its critical reception, the film's exploration of the psychological aftermath of trauma, combined with its slasher elements, may appeal to fans of the genre seeking a blend of suspense and supernatural undertones.
