THE 6TH FRIEND

Cinemavixion Review

Letia Clouston's "The 6th Friend" plunges viewers into a chilling narrative that begins with a seemingly innocent college graduation party turned sinister. Five years after a night of terror and bloodshed, a group of friends reunites, only to find themselves ensnared in a fresh wave of horror. The film, released in 2016 and starring Jamie Bernadette, Chantelle Albers, and Dominique Swain, deftly blends slasher elements with a touch of the paranormal. While initial reception, as indicated by a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, suggests a divisive experience, the film has garnered attention, including 7 wins and 6 nominations. The plot, as detailed, involves a psychedelic trip that disorients the friends, leading to a night of violence, and a subsequent reunion that resurrects the nightmare. "The 6th Friend" offers a compelling, albeit sometimes brutal, exploration of friendship tested by extreme trauma, making it a noteworthy entry for fans of the genre looking for a suspenseful and bloody ride.
