THE 111 MEDIEVAL PEASANTS FOUND BURIED IN A BACKYARD | TIME TEAM | CHRONICLE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary from Chronicle delves into a remarkable archaeological discovery at Glendon Hall, Northamptonshire. The program follows Tony Robinson and the Time Team as they investigate the unearthing of approximately 111 medieval human skeletons beneath a backyard outbuilding. The initial findings, including the orientation and density of the burials, along with the absence of typical grave goods or markers, strongly suggest a medieval Christian peasant burial site, potentially linked to a lost local village. Bone analysis offers a poignant glimpse into the lives of these individuals, revealing evidence of arduous labor and nutritional deficiencies. The documentary skillfully pieces together the archaeological puzzle, posing intriguing questions about the community that once inhabited this land and the circumstances surrounding such a significant mass burial.
