Cinemavixion Review

Stuart Blumberg's "Thanks for Sharing" offers a refreshingly candid, albeit sometimes uneven, exploration of sex addiction and its impact on relationships. The film bravely tackles a subject often relegated to hushed tones, presenting a narrative that is both humorous and poignant. Anchored by a strong ensemble cast, Mark Ruffalo delivers a nuanced performance as Adam, a man navigating the treacherous waters of sobriety and new romance. Gwyneth Paltrow as Phoebe brings a grounded sensibility, while Tim Robbins lends his signature thoughtful presence as Adam's sponsor. Josh Gad provides much-needed comic relief, though his character's journey occasionally veers into caricature. Blumberg, co-writing with Matt Winston, skillfully weaves together the personal struggles of his characters, illustrating the universal challenges of intimacy and connection even amidst addiction. While the film garnered a mixed reception, with a 50% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 54, its willingness to confront difficult themes with empathy and a touch of levity makes it a noteworthy, if imperfect, romantic comedy that encourages open dialogue about a complex issue.
