TAZMANIAN DEVIL

Cinemavixion Review

Solomon Onita Jr.'s "Tazmanian Devil" offers a compelling look at the immigrant experience, anchored by a strong performance from Abraham Attah, known for his breakout role in "Beasts of No Nation." The film delves into the complex duality faced by Dayo, a Nigerian immigrant navigating the American college landscape. Torn between the allure of joining a fraternity and the deeply ingrained expectations of his estranged pastor father, Dayo's journey is a poignant exploration of identity, cultural clashes, and the search for belonging. While the film garnered 1 win and 3 nominations, its critical reception, particularly its 7.3 IMDb rating, suggests a resonant narrative that captures the anxieties and aspirations of its protagonist. "Tazmanian Devil" is a thoughtful drama that succeeds in portraying the often-turbulent transition into a new world, making it a noteworthy addition to contemporary cinema.
