TARGET FOR TONIGHT

Cinemavixion Review

This 1941 Crown Film Unit production, 'Target For Tonight,' offers a gripping and authentic glimpse into the perilous world of RAF reconnaissance missions during World War II. Directed by Harry Watt, the film eschews traditional actors for real pilots and officers, imbuing the narrative with an unparalleled sense of realism. It masterfully recreates the tension and meticulous planning that preceded actual bombing raids, placing the audience directly into the cockpit. The film's win for Best Documentary at the Academy Awards in 1942 is a testament to its powerful storytelling and historical significance. 'Target For Tonight' is more than just a war film; it's a poignant tribute to the courage and dedication of those who served, presented with a raw authenticity that resonates even today.
