SWEET INFERNO

Cinemavixion Review

This 1987 Hong Kong action-martial arts film, "Sweet Inferno," delivers a potent mix of studio rivalry and hand-to-hand combat. The narrative centers on a determined dance troupe and a tenacious special detective who stand against an international drug syndicate aiming to establish a heroin refinery within their cherished "Phoenix" theatre. Director Steve Lung orchestrates a series of escalating conflicts, culminating in a fiery showdown that promises to be as explosive as its title suggests. Featuring performances from Juliet Chan, Alan Lau, Lily Cheung, and Mike Miller, the film offers a compelling blend of drama and high-octane action, exploring themes of resilience and the fight for community spaces against corrupt forces. It's a vibrant showcase of martial arts prowess and a testament to the power of ordinary individuals pushed to extraordinary limits.
