SURVIVING THE ABUSE OF THE ROTHERHAM CHILD GROOMING RING: SAMMY WOODHOUSE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the harrowing reality of the Rotherham child grooming scandal, centering on the courageous testimony of Sammy Woodhouse. The narrative unfolds with visceral impact, detailing Sammy's ordeal from the tender age of 14 when she first encountered Arshid Hussain, a figure who would orchestrate a devastating sex ring. The account powerfully illustrates the long and arduous journey towards escape, marked by Hussain's eventual imprisonment in 2001 for violent offenses, and later his significant jail sentence in 2016 for his crimes against nine women. Woodhouse's story is a stark testament to resilience and survival against unimaginable abuse, offering a vital, albeit difficult, perspective on a critical societal issue.
