This documentary delves into the enduring enigma of Stonehenge, focusing on a compelling archaeological discovery: the remains of an individual whose death, approximately 3,000 years ago, is the subject of intense scrutiny. Archaeologist Mike Pitts leads the investigation, examining skeletal evidence found in a shallow grave at the iconic site. The film explores the potential causes of death, particularly a theory involving a beheading, and contextualizes this finding within the broader understanding of Anglo-Saxon practices and beliefs surrounding death and burial. It’s a fascinating look at how modern science can illuminate ancient mysteries, offering a tangible connection to a distant past and the lives of those who built and inhabited this prehistoric monument. The narrative skillfully blends scientific inquiry with historical speculation, inviting viewers to ponder the rituals and realities of ancient Britain.
