STARHOPS

Cinemavixion Review

"Starhops" serves up a delightful blend of youthful exuberance and entrepreneurial spirit, set against the backdrop of a classic American drive-in. The film centers on two spirited carhops and a talented French chef who transform a struggling diner into a local hotspot. Their dynamic is the heart of the movie, showcasing a charming chemistry as they fend off the predatory advances of an oil magnate eyeing their prime real estate. Director Barbara Peeters crafts a narrative that, while simple, is executed with a light touch, allowing the personalities of Dorothy Buhrman, Sterling Frazier, and Jillian Kesner to shine. Though perhaps not a critical darling, "Starhops" offers a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era of roadside Americana, buoyed by its earnest performances and a premise that champions pluck and ingenuity.
