SQUID MAN

Cinemavixion Review

Charlie Cline's 'Squid Man' offers a refreshingly grounded take on the superhero genre, exploring the existential malaise of a washed-up hero. Andrew Roth delivers a compelling performance as the titular Squid Man, a character whose powers are as mundane as his circumstances. The narrative skillfully blends humor and pathos, as Squid Man grapples with obsolescence and the ghosts of his past. Supported by a solid cast, including Laurel Schroeder and Eric Bryant, the film delves into themes of relevance and identity in a world that has seemingly moved on. With a runtime of 89 minutes and a 6.7 rating on IMDb, 'Squid Man' is a thoughtful, character-driven piece that resonates beyond the typical capes-and-villains fare, offering a poignant look at what it means to be a hero, or simply a person, when the spotlight fades.
