SPINNING BORIS

Cinemavixion Review

This political satire offers a sharp, often darkly humorous look at the machinations behind a high-stakes election. 'Spinning Boris' plunges viewers into the volatile world of Russian politics as three American consultants, led by a compelling Jeff Goldblum, are tasked with a seemingly impossible mission: revitalizing President Yeltsin's plummeting approval ratings. The film skillfully navigates the complexities of foreign influence and the ethical tightrope walked by the consultants, who find themselves entangled in a web of intrigue far beyond campaign strategy. Roger Spottiswoode's direction keeps the narrative taut, blending moments of genuine tension with biting commentary on the intersection of democracy, capitalism, and personal ambition. It's a fascinating, if somewhat niche, exploration of power that remains relevant, showcasing Goldblum's unique ability to embody characters caught in extraordinary circumstances.
