SOMETIMES MOTHER DOESN'T KNOW BEST

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the harrowing case of Darlie Routier, a narrative that continues to divide opinion. On June 6, 1996, Routier's frantic 911 call painted a picture of a brutal home invasion, claiming she and her two young sons were victims of an intruder. The ensuing investigation, however, cast a shadow of doubt, ultimately leading to Routier's implication and her current position on death row. The film meticulously reconstructs the events, presenting the evidence and the conflicting testimonies that form the crux of this enduring mystery. It forces viewers to grapple with the complexities of the case, the nature of truth, and the profound questions surrounding justice and guilt. The examination of the psychological toll and the societal implications makes for a compelling, albeit unsettling, viewing experience.
