SOMEDAY ISLES

Cinemavixion Review

"Someday Isles," a 2021 feature film directed by Tsz Ying Lau and Shawn St. Cyr, embarks on a thematic exploration of self-discovery and destiny. The narrative centers on the character PayAttenion as he navigates a personal crisis, seeking to understand his life's purpose through self-actualization. This introspective journey is mirrored by that of Ling Fei, a young woman from a prominent Hong Kong family studying in Los Angeles, who grapples with familial expectations and her own aspirations. Filmed across diverse locales, with significant scenes set in Hong Kong and Los Angeles, the movie delves into themes of self-reflection, self-determination, and the pursuit of individual happiness. The film's core message encourages viewers to embrace their own paths to fulfillment. While the film's IMDb rating of 3.7/10 suggests a mixed reception, its ambitious thematic scope and dual-city setting offer a compelling character study for those interested in narratives of personal growth and overcoming external pressures.
