Cinemavixion Review

Solo contro Roma, a historical drama from 1962, plunges viewers into the heart of Roman provincial life under occupation. The narrative centers on a Roman consul who leaves a garrison in a town preparing for a frontier war. While the townsfolk initially opt for collaboration, their compliance is tested by the tyrannical Tribune left in charge. His cruel and demanding nature, particularly his predatory advances towards Fabiola, the daughter of a local homeowner, fuels a growing resistance. Fabiola's reluctant submission is a desperate measure to protect her lover, Brenno, who has already suffered public humiliation and faces the grim prospect of gladiatorial combat. The film builds tension as Brenno and Fabiola's brother rally the townspeople, culminating in an organized uprising aimed at overthrowing the Tribune's oppressive rule. Directed by Luciano Ricci and starring Lang Jeffries, Rossana Podestà, and Philippe Leroy, the film explores themes of resistance, oppression, and the struggle for freedom against overwhelming odds.
