SMOKE N LIGHTNIN

Cinemavixion Review

Embarking on a cinematic journey that blends high-octane action with uproarious comedy, "Smoke n Lightnin" (1995) offers a breezy, albeit predictable, romp through the underbelly of Miami. Directed by Mike Kirton, the film centers on two well-meaning car mechanics whose lives take an unexpected turn when they "borrow" a luxury vehicle for a night out. Unbeknownst to them, the sleek automobile is a vessel for classified documents, thrusting them into a whirlwind of espionage and ensuing chaos. Christopher Atkins and Kristoffer Ryan Winters anchor the film as the hapless protagonists, their chemistry providing much of the comedic relief. While the plot might tread familiar ground, the film's energy and lighthearted approach make it an enjoyable watch for fans of the action-comedy genre. Despite a modest runtime of 82 minutes and a rather niche following, "Smoke n Lightnin" delivers a straightforward entertainment package, proving that sometimes, a simple premise executed with enthusiasm can be quite engaging. It’s a film that doesn’t aim for profundity but succeeds in its aim for amusement.
